Living close to Washington D.C., but not too close can be a good thing. First off there is a discount living farther out. The cost of land, houses and taxes can be less than living in the capitol or its neighboring counties. But it is more than the money. Commuting can be more fun. I recently spoke with commuters in the area about how the long drive feels. “I don’t really notice it. I listen to books on tape.” Another commuter mentioned that podcasts can really help the time go by faster. One commuter learned a new language using an instructional cd. There are a lot of really beneficial uses of time.
Additionally, you can branch out socially and join a commuter pool. Having a companion to chat with on the ride in can really help the time pass by. You can also take turns putting the mileage on your cars.
Another perk to living in a commuter town is the town. Small town communities in the area have lots of charm. Nothing beats the views of the mountains and wide open spaces. There are wineries, shops, battlefields and so much more.

Hello! My name is Dana McGushin and I have been working at EXIT for about a year and half now. I feel fortunate enough to be a part of such an amazing company that not only provides top notch service but gives back to our community. EXIT Cornerstone Realty has provided, and continues to provide, an ample amount of training that allows its agents to be the best in our field. They say it takes a village and here at EXIT you get the village. Not only will you have my full attention but the support of our broker, other agents, lenders, inspectors, title companies, pest control....the list is long. I will be by your side every step of the way!
A little about me....before entering the exciting world of real estate, I was a special education teacher. There I had to view every child as an individual and develop a plan to suit their individual needs. I have taken many of those skills and apply them to my career today. Every person is different, every deal will be different. I moved to the Culpeper area about 5 years ago and have enjoyed getting to know this charming little town. I do love venturing out and serving clients in the surrounding areas.

"Dana McGushin was my real estate agent when I purchased a house in Fall 2016 and she was absolutely awesome!!! She made the whole process go very smoothly. She tuned into the details I was looking for in a home and found the perfect houses to show me. She was quick to set up showing appointments and to write up a contract when I found my ideal home.
Dana's communication skills and professionalism in speaking with others involved in the purchasing process is highly commendable. She is quick to respond to questions and to help in gathering needed information for closing. Because of her caring nature and expertise, my experience with buying a new home was pleasant and stress free. I highly recommend using Dana as your real estate agent when selling or purchasing a home!"
